Open Access Network Infrastructure

Open Access Networks, as the name implies, allow any operator complying with current legislative and regulatory requirements to access bandwidth connectivity over the OAN from designated Points of Presence (PoP). The principle behind the OAN is that the network provides connectivity to a large but disparate customer base which would not otherwise attract other operators to build new networks to provide services. The advantage to established network operators is that they can access a new customer base from a single PoP and their capital expenditure will be limited to building network connectivity to that point.

The construction of Open Access Networks may be initiated as a commercial venture by parties looking to exploit them as a business proposition (e.g. commercial developers or infrastructure providers) or by public bodies seeking to support regional development strategies by ensuring that end users in commercially-unattractive locations get access to core ICT products and services at prices comparable to those available in areas of high competition.

InterConnect Communications can support the planning, construction and roll-out of OAN infrastructure by both private and public sector organisations, with a range of services covering:
