Regional Development through ICT

Feasibility Studies

Translating an ICT policy into practical action can be just as challenging as creating the policy itself. Keynote projects are likely to be multi-faceted, and any one of these nuances may detract from the delivery of core policy aims. Equally, the policy itself may need detail modification in order to accommodate market, regulatory or technical demands. The undertaking of an effective feasibility study before committing capital resources is thus a vital tool, both in terms of securing inward investment and in identifying issues before they become problems.

Drawing on an extensive reservoir of international experience, InterConnect Communications’ experts can appraise your project from a number of different perspectives, including economic, regulatory and technical factors. We can help you identify appropriate examples of best practice, assure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, and work with you to create a roadmap to ensure that your project meets the targets set for it.

Our past work in this area covers:
  • The project management of a study for a regional development authority into the feasibility of providing a modern broadband network and services on a regional level, including technical, social and economic aspects. This required the planning, development and costing of a modern broadband network and an analysis of the market and service take-up;
  • Assessing the feasibility of a large area extranet to provide connectivity to multimedia-based businesses, including a detailed assessment of existing network infrastructure and services offered by the incumbent and other licensed operators, and the compilation of a range of costed options for network build in order to facilitate implementation and operation of the extranet;
  • The preparation of a detailed infrastructure survey for a major business development designated as a potential e.Campus facility, including a comprehensive on- and off-site connectivity assessment and production of an on-site network development infrastructure deployment strategy;
  • Assessing the feasibility of integrating the deployment of a telecommunications network with a new gas pipeline distribution scheme, including the undertaking of site surveys and liaison with the pipeline operator.
